THE EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE-The newly spreading disease

THE EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE:

The Ebola virus disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever is a severe condition caused by a virus from the Filoviridae family.Known to be a condition that is transmitted from animals to humans, this virus spreads through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person or animal.

Ebola virus disease (EVD) or Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) is a disease that affects mammals, including humans caused by the Ebola virus. Symptoms typically start two days to three weeks after contracting the virus, with a fever, sore throat, muscle pains, and headaches. Typically nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea follow, along with decreased functioning of the liver and kidneys. At this point, some people begin to have bleeding problems.
CAUSES:

Life cycles of the Ebolavirus disease EVD is caused by four of five viruses classified in the genus Ebolavirus, family Filoviridae, order Mononegavirales. These four viruses are Bundibugyo virus (BDBV), Ebola virus (EBOV), Sudan virus (SUDV), Tai Forest virus (TAFV). The fifth virus, Reston virus (RESTV), is not thought to be disease-causing in humans.
According to the WHO (World Health Organisation) this disease can be transmitted from close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals. In humans the disease can be transmitted by the following methods:
  • Coming into contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of an infected person.
  • Healthcare workers may contract the disease through transmission as well through contact with infected bodily fluids.
  • Handling the meat from infected animals.
  • Contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person who has passed away.
SYMPTOMS:

The incubation period (or the time between when the actual infection takes place to the time when a person sees symptoms of this condition) for this disease is about one week. After this period a person will commonly see the signs that are considered as ‘early symptoms’.

Once the condition has progressed a person may notice symptoms like:
  • Bleeding from the mouth, ears, nose and ears.
  • Increased sensitivity to pain on the skin.
  • Genital swelling.
  • Conjunctivitis.
  • Rashes all over the body.
  • And reddening of the roof of the mouth.
DIAGNOSIS:

Other diseases that should be ruled out before a diagnosis of EVD can be made include: malaria, typhoid fever, shigellosis, cholera, leptospirosis, plague, rickettsiosis, relapsing fever, meningitis, hepatitis and other viral haemorrhagic fevers.
Ebola virus infections can be diagnosed definitively in a laboratory through several types of tests:
  1. Antibody-capture enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  2. Antigen detection tests
  3. Serum neutralization test
  4. Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay
  5. Electron microscopy
  6. Virus isolation by cell culture.
  7. Samples from patients are an extreme biohazard risk; testing should be conducted under maximum biological containment conditions.
PREVENTION:

1.Behavioral changes:
  • Ebola viruses are contagious, with prevention predominantly involving behavior changes, proper full-body personal protective equipment, and disinfection.
  • Techniques to avoid infection involve not contacting infected blood or secretions, including from those who are dead.
  • Recommended measures when caring for those who are infected include isolating them, sterilizing equipment, and wearing protective clothing including masks, gloves, gowns and goggles.
  • Hand washing is important but can be difficult in areas where there is not even enough water for drinking.
2.Vaccine:
No vaccine is currently available for humans. The most promising candidates are DNA vaccines or vaccines derived from adenoviruses, vesicular stomatitis Indiana virus (VSIV) or filovirus-like particles (VLPs)because these candidates could protect nonhuman primates from ebolavirus-induced disease. DNA vaccines, adenovirus-based vaccines, and VSIV-based vaccines have entered clinical trials.

3.Laboratory:
Ebola viruses are World Health Organization Risk Group 4 pathogens, requiring biosafety level 4-equivalent containment. Laboratory researchers must be properly trained in BSL-4 practices and wear proper personal protective equipment.

TREATMENT:

No ebolavirus-specific treatment exists.Treatment is primarily supportive in nature and includes minimizing invasive procedures, balancing fluids and electrolytes to counter dehydration, administration of anticoagulants early in infection to prevent or control disseminated intravascular coagulation, administration of procoagulants late in infection to control bleeding, maintaining oxygen levels, pain management, and the use of medications to treat bacterial or fungal secondary infections. Early treatment may increase the chance of survival.

The Fastest Bike-Suzuki Hayabusa

THE SUZUKI HAYABUSA:

The Suzuki Hayabusa (or GSX1300R) is a sport bike motorcycle made by Suzuki since 1999. Hayabusa is Japanese for "peregrine falcon", a bird that often serves as a metaphor for speed due to its vertical hunting dive, or stoop, speed of 180 to 202 miles per hour (290 to 325 km/h), the fastest of any bird.In particular, the choice of name was made because the peregrine falcon preys on blackbirds, which reflected the intent of the original Hayabusa to unseat the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird as the world's fastest production motorcycle.
Eventually, the Hayabusa managed to surpass the Super Blackbird by at least a full 10 miles per hour (16 km/h).It immediately won acclaim as the world's fastest production motorcycle, with a top speed of 188 to 194 miles per hour (303 to 312 km/h).

OVERVIEW:

More than a decade ago, Suzuki developed a machine so unique that it instantly attracted a devoted following around the world. Like its namesake, the Japanese peregrine falcon, Hayabusa is famed for cutting through the air with incredible agility and performance.
It combines massive thrust, unmatched maneuverability, and a silky smooth ride on city streets or the open road. Beneath its windswept design beats the legendary Suzuki Hayabusa engine. The resonating feel of pure power evokes an attitude of bold authority from both machine and rider.

Through countless engineering refinements of the original design, the Hayabusa spirit has endured. Its incomparable performance delivers a fun and sporty ride at any speed, setting the bar high for rivals and defining the "Ultimate Sport Bike." The radically original yet timeless styling also reflects the spirit of the person who owns a Hayabusa.
At the turn of the 20th century Suzuki surprised the world by introducing the Hayabusa. Over the last decade, the motorcycle has evolved while staying true to its concept-the pinnacle of high-performance motorcycles. Its sensational power, speed, smooth ride and overwhelming presence continue to fascinate owners and onlookers alike.

The addition of a new ABS and Brembo Monobloc front brake calipers takes the Hayabusa and rider to new heights. We invite you to become an owner of the Hayabusa key, and feel the beat of Hayabusa as you fly through the streets. Join us and become a proud owner. May your heart beat in unison to the Hayabusa. Because the Hayabusa is, and always will be, the ultimate sport bike.

FEATURES:

Selectable engine mapping – Suzuki Drive Mode Selector:

The Hayabusa features the unique Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) system, which allows the rider to select one of three engine control maps. The system allows the rider to select a different map to suit personal preferences in various riding conditions, such as choosing one map for highway cruising and another map for tighter roads.

Forged pistons and PVD-coated rings:

Forged three-ring aluminum-alloy slipper pistons provide superior strength. The oil control ring on each piston is electro-plated with a chrome-nitride coating applied in a vacuum chamber using a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) system. The chrome nitride PVD coating is harder and smoother than conventional chrome plating, reducing friction while improving cylinder sealing. The upper piston ring also features an L-shaped cross section, with combustion pressure pushing the ring tighter against the cylinder wall to further reduce blow by and increase the force actually pushing the piston down.

Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve:

The Hayabusa engine is fitted with tapered, 44 mm double-barrel Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) throttle bodies.Unlike conventional fuel-injection systems, the SDTV system has two butterfly valves in each throttle body barrel. The rider controls the primary valve via a throttle grip, and the engine management system automatically controls the secondary valve, opening it incrementally to maintain optimum intake charge velocity based on engine rpm, gear position and primary valve opening. This precise, carefully controlled system improves combustion efficiency and makes throttle response feel more natural to the rider.

Brembo Monobloc front brake calipers:

Lighter and more rigid than conventional bolt-together calipers, the Hayabusa's top-of-the-line radial-mount Brembo Monobloc front brake calipers deliver better feedback to the rider. The piston diameters were enlarged from 32-30 mm to 32-32 mm.Larger pistons help apply greater force to the brake disc, which results in increased initial bite and a more controlled feeling.

Colors:

It is available in three colors: Pearl Vigor Blue / Pearl Glacier White (AJP), Metallic Thunder Gray / Grass Sparkle Black (AA 3), Pearl Mira Red / Pearl Glacier White (AGS).

Lightweight, high-performance ABS:

A new, standard equipment Anti lock Brake System (ABS) unit features a lightweight, compact design. The ABS enhances brake performance by helping prevent, to a certain extent, wheel locking due to changes in road conditions or excessive braking, by matching stopping power to available traction.
Note: The ABS is a supplemental device for brake operation, not a device for shortening stopping distance. Always remember to reduce speed sufficiently before approaching curves.

Inverted cartridge front forks:

KYB inverted cartridge forks feature a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC)coating surface treatment on the 43 mm stanchion tubes to reduce friction and increase reaction to small surface irregularities. The forks provide front wheel travel of 120 mm. Spring preload, compression damping and rebound damping are fully adjustable.

Effects of Smoking

SMOKING:

Smoking is the major problem that almost 75% of men has. It is an addiction and it starts by the way of curiosity. Boys in their school days starts to smoke with the curiosity and after that they couldn't stop since they get addicted to it. About 20%  people leaves this habit after 30 years but still people continues till their life end even if they are in old age.

CAUSES:
Smoking causes Cardiovascular disease, Cancer,Lung disease,Stroke, aortic aneurysm( a balloon-like bulge in artery in the Chest), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(COPD),Asthma,Hip fractures and Cataracts. Smokers are at higher risk of developing pneumonia and other airway infections.

DRUGS USED IN CIGARETTE:
Nicotine is the addictive drug in tobacco smoke that causes smokers to continue to smoke. Addicted smokers need enough nicotine over a day to ‘feel normal’ – to satisfy cravings or control their mood. How much nicotine a smoker needs determines how much smoke they are likely to inhale, no matter what type of cigarette they smoke.

Along with nicotine, smokers inhale about 7,000 other chemicals in cigarette smoke. Many of these chemicals come from burning tobacco leaf. Some of these compounds are chemically active and trigger profound and damaging changes in the body.Tobacco smoke contains over 60 known cancer-causing chemicals. Smoking harms nearly every organ in the body, causing many diseases and reducing health in general.

DANGEROUS CHEMICALS IN CIGARETTE:

The most damaging components of tobacco smoke are:
  • Tar – this is the collective term for the various particles suspended in tobacco smoke. The particles contain chemicals, including several cancer-causing substances (carcinogens). Tar is sticky and brown, and stains teeth, fingernails and lung tissue. Tar contains the carcinogen Benz(a)pyrene
  • Carbon monoxide – this odorless gas is fatal in large doses because it takes the place of oxygen in the blood. Each red blood cell contains a protein called hemoglobin that transports oxygen molecules around the body. However, carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin better than oxygen. This means that less oxygen reaches the brain, heart, muscles and other organs
  • Hydrogen cyanide – the lungs contain tiny hairs (cilia) that help to clean the lungs by moving foreign substances out. Hydrogen cyanide stops this lung clearance system from working properly, which means the poisonous chemicals in tobacco smoke can build up inside the lungs. Other chemicals in smoke that damage the lungs include hydrocarbons, nitrous oxides, organic acids, phenols and oxidising agents
  • Free radicals – these highly reactive chemicals can damage the heart muscles and blood vessels. They react with cholesterol, leading to the build-up of fatty material on artery walls. Their actions lead to heart disease, stroke and blood vessel disease
  • Metals – tobacco smoke contains dangerous metals including arsenic, cadmium and lead. Several of these metals are carcinogenic
  • Radioactive compounds – tobacco smoke contains radioactive compounds that are known to be carcinogenic.

EFFECTS OF SMOKING:

CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE:

Cardiovascular disease is the main cause of death due to smoking. Hardening of the arteries is a process that develops over years, when cholesterol and other fats deposit in the arteries, leaving them narrow, blocked or rigid. When the arteries narrow (atherosclerosis), blood clots are likely to form.Smoking accelerates the hardening and narrowing process in your arteries and blood clots are two to four times more likely.

CANCER:
Smokers are more likely to get cancer than non-smokers. This is particularly true of lung cancer, throat cancer and mouth cancer, which hardly ever affect non-smokers.

The link between smoking and lung cancer is clear.
  • Ninety percent of lung cancer cases are due to smoking.
  • If no-one smoked, lung cancer would be a rare diagnosis - only 0.5 per cent of people who've never touched a cigarette develop lung cancer.
  • One in ten moderate smokers and almost one in five heavy smokers (more than 15 cigarettes a day) will die of lung cancer.

The more cigarettes you smoke in a day, and the longer you've smoked, the higher your risk of lung cancer. Similarly, the risk rises the deeper you inhale and the earlier in life you started smoking.
  • For ex-smokers, it takes approximately 15 years before the risk of lung cancer drops to the same as that of a non-smoker.
  • If you smoke, the risk of contracting mouth cancer is also four times higher than for a non-smoker. Cancer can start in many areas of the mouth, with the most common being on or underneath the tongue, or on the lips.
LUNG DISEASE:
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a collective term for a group of conditions that block airflow and make breathing more difficult, such as:
  • Emphysema - breathlessness caused by damage to the air sacs within the lungs
  • Chronic Bronchitis - coughing with a lot of mucus that continues for at least three months.
  • Smoking is the most common cause of COPD and is responsible for 80% of cases.
  • It's estimated that 94% of 20-a-day smokers have some emphysema when the lungs are examined after death, while more than 90% of non-smokers have little or none.

COPD typically starts between the ages of 35 and 45 when lung function starts to decline anyway. In smokers, the rate of decline in lung function can be three times the usual rate. As lung function declines, breathlessness begins.

OTHER RISKS CAUSED BY SMOKING:
  • Smoking raises blood pressure - a risk factor for heart attacks and stroke.
  • Couples who smoke are more likely to have fertility problems than couples who are non-smokers.
  • Smoking worsens asthma and counteracts asthma medication by worsening the inflammation of the airways that the medicine tries to ease.
  • Smoking stains your teeth and gums.
  • Smoking causes an acid taste in the mouth and contributes to the development of ulcers.
  • Smoking also affects your looks: smokers have paler skin and more wrinkles. This is because smoking reduces the blood supply to the skin and lowers levels of vitamin A.F.

How to reduce Belly Fat for Men

REDUCING BELLY FAT:

Losing weight isn't about fasting or denying yourself that which you most crave. To the contrary, sustainable weight loss is normally a product of careful planning and even more careful execution. Culled from the 'Men's Journal' archives, here are seven tips for taking off the belly fat, keeping off the belly fat, and not going crazy in the process.

The Simple steps to reduce Belly Fat are here:

1) EAT EARLY:

A Spanish study found that noshers who ate their biggest meal earlier in the day were able to lose 25 percent more weight than those who delayed gratification. In Spain, the largest meal tends to be lunch, but study author Frank Scheer says he thinks Americans who eat dinner earlier would also see better diet results.

2) TRY SMALLER PORTIONS:

Forget what your mother told you: You do not have to finish your meal.An Australian study found that most people will eat more when offered a larger portion. Not an astonishing result, but definitely telling in light of the fact that every participant in the study had just been instructed on how to eat only until they were full.

3) AVOID FAST FOOD "MEALS":

Fast food is a quick way to pack on the pounds, but expediency sometimes dictates that you have to walk into a McDonald's. According to a Temple University study, dieters can order responsibly so long as they avoid the "meals" and opt instead for individual dishes and sides. Also, they found every dessert option in every fast food joint to be hugely caloric. Nothing to do there but abstain.

5 BELLY FAT REDUCING FOODS:

1.Whole grains:
Your body will burn double the amount of calories as it breaks down whole grains, particularly those that are rich in fiber such as brown rice and oats. Processed foods are broken down in a different way and do not require your body to burn as many calories.

2.Lean meats:
Protein in meats such as steak or chicken breasts has a very high thermogenic effect. You actually burn around 30% of the calories that the food contains while you are still digesting it. So a 300-calorie steak will require around 90 calories just to break it down.
3.Green tea:
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that drinking four cups of green tea each day could help people shed around 2-3kg in two months because there is a compound in the brewed tea that temporarily speeds up your metabolism. If you want to up your intake even further keep a jug of iced green tea in the fridge for a bit of variation.
4.Hot peppers:
Capsaicin, the primary compound found in chilli peppers that gives them their kick, warms up your body temperature, aiding the burning of additional calories. You can get it by eating dried, cooked, raw or powdered peppers.

5.Lower-fat dairy products:
Rich in vitamin D and calcium, low-fat dairy products like light cheeses and skimmed milk help to preserve and build muscle mass, which is essential for maintaining a robust metabolism. He advocates embracing your hatred of the gym and just going anyway rather than pretending to enjoy it. You're doing it for your health, not for pleasure.
